The SCK Journey
2005: Founded
We opened Sturgeon County Kennels with one goal: provide safe, clean, loving care that gives pet parents total peace of mind.
2009: Expanded Facility
As we grew, we built a larger facility designed for comfort, smoother operations, and daily routines dogs settle into quickly.
2017: Retail Store Launched
We introduced our retail store so families could shop trusted food, treats, and essentials right where their dogs stay.
2018: Raw Nutrition Added
We expanded into raw feeding with quality options and guidance to support digestion, energy, and long-term canine wellness.
2024: New Building
A new era of improvements brought more space, upgraded features, and a better experience from check-in to pick-up.
2025: BARKS Partnership
We helped found BARKS to support rescue dogs through events, awareness, and action that helps more pets find homes.
What are the Kennels like?
Our kennels are spacious, custom-built, and designed with your dog’s comfort in mind. Each one features both indoor and outdoor runs, so dogs can soak up the sun or head inside to relax whenever they like.
Heated floors keep things cozy during Alberta’s coldest months, and we clean every kennel daily to ensure a safe, hygienic environment. Whether your dog’s here to play, rest, or just feel at home, we’ve created a space that’s as comfortable as it is secure.
Will my dog be socialized?
We have four fully fenced play areas of varying sizes where dogs can explore, stretch their legs, and have fun. With your permission, we carefully match dogs by size and temperament for safe, supervised play sessions. Socializing is always optional - and always closely monitored by our trained staff to ensure everyone’s safety.
Whether your dog prefers making friends or flying solo, we’re here to make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

About the Retail Store
Our passion has always been simple: happy animals, happy people. In 2020, when the world turned upside down, we really focused on expanding our retail store as a way to keep going through the pandemic. What started out as a small pivot quickly grew into something bigger - thanks to the incredible support of our SCK family.
Today, our store is a full-service, premium pet supply shop right here in the heart of Sturgeon County. Whether you're looking for top-quality food, treats, toys, or gear, we’ve built a place where pets (and their people) are always top of mind.

We price boarding as a daily service because your dog is cared for throughout the day, not just overnight. It keeps billing simple, predictable, and consistent with how our staffing and cleaning run day to day.
We use the noon rule for everyone to keep it consistent. If your pickup moves past noon, an additional day applies.
No. Our daily boarding rates are the same on holidays.
“Sharing” means two or three dogs from the same household stay together in the same kennel run. It’s a discounted per-day rate because they’re sharing the same space. If your dogs need to be separated for any reason, just tell us and we’ll book them accordingly.
